‎Just got off the phone with my friend Beth Aylard who admitted she didn't know the story behind these images, below, so she didn't understand them. Seems more than a few of my friends on Facebook have been very militaristic in their religious beliefs here lately and they have repeatedly posted "Keep Christ in Christmas or get OUT of America" ... and I thought about how that message would negatively affect American Jews, Muslims, Hindu's, Buddhists, Pagans, Atheists and Agnostics (among many other groups that were born, raised and/or simply live here in the great U.S.A.; made up of people that seem to come from a mixed can of nuts, there's so much variety). At any rate ... I felt I needed to post something that was much more inclusive of all people, including Christians, who celebrate the winter holiday with friends and family who spell the happy wintry season as "holidays" or "Christmas" or "Xmas" or whatever. Point is? PEACE TO ALL.

Carol Lenn Larson I personally like Happy Holidays more. I like the pagan parts of Christmas. The tree is my favorite part. I love Christmas Carols, but religion is not for me. I don't mind people believing in something different than me and try not to be judgmental of them for feeling the way they do. To each his own.

Beth Price I am not violently opposed to "Xmas" simply because of the reason you listed above. However, I will defend CHRISTmas because I believe in Christ. If everyone who had a problem with Jesus Christ had their way, Christians wouldn't even be allowed to utter the name of Jesus Christ. Christmas is supposed to celebrate the birth of Christ, it is not a random holiday. If people don't believe in Jesus Christ that is their right and they can celebrate any way they see fit, however, the birth of my Savior is what made this holiday called CHRISTMAS possible.

Certainly we could go on and on about "Yule" and Mistletoe etc. I respect the fact that one possesses Faith. It is important for Christians to know Dionysius Exiguus. He was the monk that came up with the day Jesus was born. I suggest you go back and read the Bible and you will discover the earliest gospel – St. Mark, written only mentioning the baptism of an adult Jesus. No direct biblical author has written anything about a birth date. Having said all that the 25th will work as well as any of the other calender days.

Beth Price Jesus Christ does not go in the same category as Santa Claus. Jesus does not own a sleigh or reindeer. He simply died to guarantee that everyone had the option to get to Heaven and have the freedom to choose the way they live and believe. Putting Jesus in the same category with Santa Claus is like telling Christians that Heaven is a fictitious place. So that is like saying my Daddy is not in Heaven. Why people want to take away HOPE is beyond me. I would rather live a life of faith and hope than to spend my life thinking that in the end I will become worm dirt.

Bobby Fijufic There is always hope. Believing in something bigger than yourself is a part of a happy life. It does not take Christmas for me to realize this because you are RIGHT. I'm tired of the commercialism of Christmas and would like to go back to the core beliefs and reasons we have faith, love and hope in the first place. I'm not remotely suggesting Heaven is fictitious. I'm only suggesting further study as to how, when, where and why of our practices...Biblical history is fascinating!

Luis Urquidi And we all come from and return to dirt, like it or not. To imply I take away your hope is beyond my scope or intention, just make sure you are thinking clearly about where your words, ideas and beliefs originate from, are they coming all from you, or hearsay that feels comfortable? Too many beliefs are like handed down without examination, inheritances which are taken on without reflection. It is scary to question and examine, but rewarding to realize all the answers don't begin and end with your beliefs.

Simon Butler Beth, as Bobby has said, Christmas was not set on an arbitrary date; it was set in late December in order to supplant various other festivals or ritual days of other, pagan religions which occurred during that period.
This was a quite deliberate policy by the Church – my reference to St Augustine of Canterbury, made in the other thread, was because he used that policy when Christianising the Saxons in England. In effect, he was making sure that people couldn’t have a feast day without it also being a Christian celebration.
Nowadays, certainly in Britain, Christmas is a largely secular holiday, which is kept by Christians and non-Christians alike because it’s a long-established tradition in this country. It also preserves many relics of the pagan festivals it displaced; the evergreens, the gift-giving etc. In this largely secular country most people don’t primarily associate it with Christianity. It’s a winter holiday with a whole range of other associations. You could argue that Christians should have a monopoly on Christmas, and other people should have another, separate holiday (as the Scots do with Hogmanay), but that would be extremely inconvenient to implement. History has seen to it that most of our principal holidays are Christian feast days, and it would take major reorganisation to change that.
Obviously no one is saying that Christians should be prevented from celebrating Christmas in whatever way they wish – they are just pointing out that saying ‘Keep the Christ in Christmas’ is unnecessarily antagonistic. Christmas is effectively in the public domain, and not solely a Christian religious festival.

Tami Jackson - ‎Bobby Fijufic ~ I actually don't mind calling Christmas "CHRISTmas" and I do refer to it that way whenever I'm around my mom ... to honor her spiritual beliefs. At the same time? NOBODY wants to be told to call a holiday one thing or you must get out of the country. I hope we never lose our nation's many seasonal traditions, but I hope in the future folks will "live and let live" more ... be much more tolerant of each other in whatever way they want to embrace winter.

Tami Jackson - Beth Price ~ I embrace you for speaking your truth. Like everybody else, you have a right to your religion and I will defend that right with all my might. I totally "get" Jesus Christ and feel highly empowered by the positive message His life represents. Meanwhile? He was born in the spring time (not during the winter - which is when the Sun God was born - and a jealous dogma changed Jesus Christ's birthday to compete with the Sun God's festivities). I think it's important EVERYBODY learn the historical origins of the holidays they honor ... that way? NOBODY will be too judgmental of ANYBODY ... we can all respect one another for celebrating the season in whatever manner we as individuals choose. When we can do that? Tami Jackson - Bobby Fijufic ~ Time lines for Christ's birth are deeply connected to the seasons when shepherds would have been out in their fields tending their flocks. Around Jerusulem, my understanding is, and I've heard this preached by many a different Christian ministers, the winters are so harsh NOBODY goes out to face the wilderness. *I'm always open to being corrected in that regard, but again, my sources were Christian, and I'd like to think I could trust them for legitimately researching the facts they present.

I know Pagans worshipped the evergreen because of that trees seeming eternal life (while other trees appeared to die in winter, after losing all their leaves, the evergreen kept its "soul" intact through the harshest of times).

I think faith, spirituality, and having some sense of "greater good" or "karma" is very important for functioning effectively in our society. Such concepts are also effective for maintaining good mental health. Those people who have no sense of a higher intelligence would seem more likely to give up for despair (if you ask me ... not that anyone's asking. It's just my own humble perspective).

I know my spiritual practice helps ME sort through things that otherwise would make this seem like too cruel and harsh of an existence at times. When you and I have some sense of "greater purpose" we can more easily push through the difficult times and NOT just give up (as you or I might, without any kind of vision or hope for something better to come; or without any sense of meaning or purpose to the struggle).

Beth Price I loved the debate! I don't get to have stimulating conversation much. I will definitely be studying the timeline. For me, Christmas could be on July 4th and it would still be Christmas, simply as a celebration of Jesus. I also have a deep interest in WICCA and other religions that teach one not to harm others. I have met interesting people today here and may need to ask a question or two of them later. :)

Vampires Celebrate Friday The 13th

Dear Fans ~

The ancient vampires here in the lair are saying that Friday The 13th reportedly evolved from Norse mythology. You already know that Friday is named after the beautiful love-Goddess Frigga, right? Well, when Christianity took over, belief in Frigga was not merely ridiculed but the church banished Frigga as a "witch" and insisted she convened with 11 other witches and the devil — a gathering of 13.

Hence we observe the day and number affiliated with Frigga as "evil." Beyond that, we have a medical diagnosis called "friggatriskaidekaphobia," which describes people who suffer "Friday the 13th phobias." (Notice how Frigga's name is inside that diagnosis). Some other tales involving the Knights Templar being murdered on Friday the 13th also surround this mini-Halloween-like holiday.

Be afraid. Be VERY afraid. Vlah-haha. (I am joking of course. You're completely safe near me. See my glowing red eyes?)

While I'm a vampire, I was merely human not too long ago. And back while human, I proved myself wise enough to believe in vampires. Not everyone who knew me back then was privy to such obvious intelligence. I mean, I often received ridicule from my coworkers and so-called friends simply for talking about my vampire experiences around them. Here's a direct quote from that book that I keep telling you about ... the one about me, called Ravena & The Resurrected. NOTE: The "Elders" are a group of ruling vampires ...

19:63 - According to the Elders' plan, whenever a group of humans should profess some rekindled faith in vampires, they were to be treated as laughingstock. Since no human wants to be made fun of, mockery became the Elders' most powerful tool . . . (for squelching truth).

MEANWHILE - SUCH PLANS DON'T ALWAYS WORK. TO PUT IT ANOTHER WAY: Here's a quote by Arthur Schopenhauer!
"All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. third, it is accepted as being self-evident."

OR AS MAHATMA GANDHI SAID IT:
"First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win."

Long story short, I continued to believe in vampires - and then I became one. You can too. Only BELIEVE.

Dear Fans ~

One of the vampires with the most years behind him is teaching me some powerful symbols that he learned way back from the Norse wise people, before he was resurrected from his humanity. This symbol, that looks something like an animal track made by a bird, is called Algiz (pronounced: "All Geese").

It also looks a lot like an elk's horn - used for protection, and protection is what this Norse Rune is all about.

My instructor said he failed to draw this symbol on his person (or on his neck) which is how the vampires were able to take him from his village. Since he swears by its power, I'm now drawing invisible Algiz symbols with my finger all over everything I own. I expect it to keep the other vampires from borrowing my stuff. So far so good!

Vampires Rant On The Topic of "Beauty"

Dear Fans ~

I am typing this on my new laptop while ancient vampires pace the floor nearby. We're inside the mansion's red Victorian gallery, which features a few well-padded lounges (and I'm sitting upon one of them). I'm also surrounded by the most inspiring and incredible Victorian art. It makes me hold whatever breath I don't have just to admire the craftsmanship.

Currently a couple of arguing vampires happen to be standing right next to me. They were ranting about things that really don't matter to anyone in the modern era but only to them. Now, however, they changed the subject and seem to be agreeing with one another about what defines "beauty." Here's a tidbit from what's being said right now:

Flynn: According to Confucius: "Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it."

Isiah: That's utterly true!

Flynn: Well then perhaps you can enlighten me. I don't see beauty in a hairy boil that's infesting some pale and wrinkled dead cheek!

Isiah: Confucius is just saying that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If you change your perspective, even a little, that hairy boil can be seen as utterly delicious.

Flynn: What on Earth? How so?

Isiah: If you're a gnat or leach seeking to devour flesh, you might regard that extra plump boil you just described as beautiful and possibly even tasty.

Flynn: There's no way I'm going to lower myself to think like a gnat, or even a human, just to please Confucious.

Isiah: Suit yourself.

Flynn: People only gaze upon surface observations. As their favored saying goes: "beauty is only skin deep." In contrast, you and I both know that what is really beautiful is whatever's going on beneath that skin. Boils are NOT beautiful because they're filled with puss and other nasty things too eager to ooze their way out from below.

Isiah: Now that idea -- that people perceive beauty differently than us -- is true. Like you, I realize that surface beauty has too many hindrances to meet the definition of what's truly attractive. Instead of looking at a person's skin, vampires perceive of any breathing, heart-beating, meal-generating person to be beautiful, and the fatter the better!

Flynn: Too bad humans who feel physically insecure do not see their worth through the admiring eyes of vampires. Personal-esteem would skyrocket if they did.

Z-z-z. Okay. I've wasted enough time listening to those two. Ross (the pianist) is meeting me in the music hall in another three minutes. We're practicing for tonight's performance when neighboring clans will gather here and mingle (so I've got to rush off).

Damn-it Look Me In The Eyes When I'm Talking To You

Dear Fans ~

When I was a kid (long before I ever turned vampire) my dad would insist I look him in the eye, even while I was getting yelled at for doing some imaginary thing that got me in trouble. It took so much effort to look at him, when the eyes lead to the soul and my own soul felt so vulnerable (and the soul can be so easily injured).

Now that I've grown, I've had many encounters with people who have difficulty returning eye contact. In that respect, I'm glad for the lessons my dad taught me. Below is an excerpt from chapter twenty one, of Ravena & The Resurrected, where a half-faerie named Hogshead first met me in Seattle's historic underground. While he was giving me some helpful tips for how I might safely hunt, when I was nearly starving, he kept having trouble returning eye contact.

CHAPTER TWENTY ONE (excerpt from book)
Hogshead took another swig from his flask before looking up and down the hall, nervous again. “They’re still going to graveyards, those necromancers. Know why it’s a complete waste of their time?”

“No.” I admitted again. I was beginning to feel like I was in some sort of game show, where the questions kept coming, even when I kept missing all the answers.

“The Assassins have destroyed nearly every undead mute wearing grave clothes. They’ve practically exterminated the zombies!” Before gulping another swig, Hogshead snorted and I smelled fresh corn whiskey.

Then, while I stared at his flask, he reached over me to swat a fly and the odor wafting from his underarm stung my eyes worse than the acid in my nostrils. “So Hogshead,” I asked after a few hard blinks. “Why don’t you look me in the eye? You shy or something?”

I would tell you the very intelligent reason Hogshead gave for why he avoided making eye contact with me. Yet then it would ruin that segment of the book. Wouldn't it? Vlah-haha.

Forbidden - Oh How Popular That Word Makes The Fruit

Dear Fans ~

I hate being denied anything. Don't you? On the law books, of Washington state, it's actually illegal to collect rain water in barrels (for watering plants, flushing the toilets, etc.). The government here not only assumes it controls our land, and the marijuana plants, and the right to sell hard alcohol exclusive from grocery stores and small wine dispensories, but the state thinks it also owns whatever natural silvery elixir that falls from the heavens as well.

Fortunately the state does not have the police power to enforce any laws against the collection of rain water (and that law falls low on their list of police enforcement priorities). Meanwhile, back when I was living the details described in the book, Ravena & The Resurrected, I learned that even VAMPIRES have rules that spoil what might seem rightfully ours and stake a claim to such rights, calling them "forbidden." Here's an excerpt from the book.

11:44 - “Forbidden?” I nearly spit the word. “Why would acquiring a special ability be perceived as undesirable? I’m assuming it’s the Elders who forbid it? They seem to squelch anything that seems wonderful or fun.”

Don't Assume My Fangs Are Rubber!

Dear Fans ~

Very few have doubted whether I actually have a spine but I really proved my strength today while staring down what would have been a very intimidating exchange with a human male who hoped to prey upon me, sexually. Obviously he assumed I was an unsuspecting and submissive human.

"Hey baby!" he said, before he realized I was vampire. If he'd paid any sort of attention to me, he would have noticed my bi-colored green and gold retinas. Then, when I didn't acknowledge him, he grabbed my arm; tightly.

I told him to "back off" but he got a little more frisky, and, since he wouldn't do as I said and attempted to grope me, I had to kill him.

Earth is something that all vampires embrace. Under soil we can find respite and relaxation - an escape from all that troubles us. Now that we are thinking of Earth and how she continues to shake in Japan, with violent after-shocks following that 8.9 big-one, the agony of loss and destruction touches us all rather deeply, emotionally.

The oldest vampires here are talking about their knowledge of Japanese Mythology. Seems Japan was created by brother and sister deity, Izangi & Izanami, who stirred up the ocean to create that landmass. The gods wanted a great city they could embrace - and that's why there's Japan.

Only one of the vampires here have ever been through an Earthquake big as the 8.9. Ross Neterrer was in in Chile on May 22, 1960, when a 9.5 quake hit. It troubled him so much, he's never gone back.

The news media keeps reporting that Japan is in the middle of the burning rim of fire, where most of Earth's earthquakes happen. To vampires, "burning rim of fire" brings up images of historic villages where angry peasants with flaming torches storm upon a single vampire.

Dear Fans ~

Things feel rather glum around the lair these days. The older vampires wont stop arguing over the ugly struggle currently happening in America between corporate power and the working class. Some of them are deeply offended by Governor Scott Walker, of Wisconsin, who proposes to break up the unions, as though he remembers nothing of history.

According to one of the vamps, who lived in Colorado back in 1914, John. D. Rockefeller tried to bust up unions back then. He proved influential in sending in armed forces to use machine-guns against coal mining families.

The miners were tired of working around the clock, seeing their coworkers die from mine explosions, collapsing walls and suffocation. The death rate in those southern Rocky Mountains was higher than anywhere else in the country. Workers were so poorly paid, their children also worked in the mines. While Rockefeller and affiliated mine companies grew filthy rich by the miners' labor and as corporate greed acquired more and more real estate, they kicked the working families out of the company-owned homes in the middle of winter. As a result, the miners pitched tents in a public park. They dug holes inside their tents so the family could hunker down into the frozen ground below the gun fire. Even still two women, eleven children, five miners and one National Guard soldier died in the carnage.

The incident is now famously referred to as "The Ludlow Massacre." (It happened in Ludlow, Colorado, in 1914). In memory of that stand-off, the labor unions subsequently managed to promote child labor laws and reduce daily labor to the eight-hour work day that America's working class take for granted today. At least that's what the old vampires say happened. I wouldn't know. I wasn't there. I've only been a vampire for one year.

Oil baron John D. Rockefeller, owner of the steel mill dependent on the coal, sent in a hundred private "detectives" who the sheriff promptly deputized. They brought machine guns, terrorizing strikers with beatings and mock executions.

It's a new day, and Tami Jackson found a new way to travel. She bought pixie dust from a traveling wizard and instantly appeared in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Problem is, the wizard failed to mention that humans must always cover their mouths and noses to speed-travel that way, or risk suffering a terribly loud and obnoxious case of bullfrog-sounding hiccups.

That's why, when you visit Natasha's magical blog, Tami won't actually be there. Instead of her loud croaking, you'll be hearing from Vampire Dresmona (pictured, of Ravena & The Resurrected fame). She flew almost as fast as the speed of light to fill in for the author.

Don't worry about Tami. We promise she won't croak in any permanent sort of way. Other vampires have found that ridiculous wizard and they are bringing both him (a bit pale-looking, considering his blood loss) and the hiccup cure to Toronto. Tami should be feeling better in no time.

In Ravena & The Resurrected, chapter ten, maladroit means "reckless" and "inept." (See example from the book, below.)

10:28 - "Hi." He said awkwardly, then snorted. He was very skinny and looked pathetically maladroit with his sloppy grin.

One of the reasons why vampires and coffee-makers both thrive in Seattle is because the city's skyline is so frequently overcast, it feels too gloomy for most humans. Yet I would point out that there are few places, besides here in Seattle, where Mother Earth so quickly breaks down whatever concrete mankind pours out. Amazingly, she destroys such rigidness, not by sending a volcano, tsunami, or some other violent catastrophe, as a large earthquake, but she gently grooms whatever "progress" men would make by wooing them with a most delicate green and gentle moss.

In chapter 32 of Ravena & The Resurrected, my aquaintance, Conian, finally shows his true personality. (Below is an excerpt from the book.)
32:27 - “You can see the dark mark?” Quealuh asked, stating the obvious.
32:28 - “Of course! Everybody ca….”
32:29 - “Hardly!” A particularly large and scarred one-eyed werewolf named Conian interrupted. I stood amazed as he began to shudder violently. Soon enough it became clear he was transforming into his animal self and he threw off his clothes while a collective rumbling emitted from so many other werewolves, who now also undressed, behind him.

If you like the vampire genre then you need to check this out. Its a great book by a budding author who Im glad I found. I am always looking for another author to add to my collection and I do believe I found one! Its a seriously entertaining book and I read it in 3 days! It even has a few places where I had to laugh out loud and has a twist or two that will keep you guessing. Love the paranormal aspect and the intertwining of shape shifters and a little bit of magic thrown in! I say try it, you might just find a new author to follow too! Enjoy!

After finishing Ravena & The Resurrected last night, I can hardly wait for the next installment. From the moment I started reading, Ravena came alive with her own voice, tone and mannerisms. Ravena & The Resurrected is a very fun, quirky and enjoyable read from start to finish and filled with a medley of paranormal beings that touch both their dark and lighter sides in a very modern society. Ravena as a character is immediately relatable, and helps explore the subject matter in a way that is both down to earth and invigorating at the same time. In "Ravena & The Resurrected" (R&R), the book about me, there are more than a few made-up words. Here's a short list of some.

Clanpire: A fellow clan member whose a vampire (as differentiated from a clan member whose a werewolf).

Gothpire: A vampire whose dresses in dark Gothic, usually black, clothes. They’re very open minded and often have ideas that seem strange to main stream individuals who often lack any sense of style themselves.

Hepire: Male vampire.

Merpeople: (Unbelievably, the common dictionary did not already have this word in it. Meanwhile, we're not sure that Ravena & The Resurrected is the first publication to use this reference) gender inclusive term for mermen and mermaids.

Pastarian: vegetarian who only consumes pastries (and maybe coffee).
Ristian: Hideously nasty vampires in the astral. These are an ugly aberration of what you usually think of as "vampire." Ristians are ridiculously powerful. A Ristian is so foul, a giant house cat might want bury one in the litter box (if only a Ristian could actually be caught and the sand were actually deep enough).

Shepire: Female vampire.

Vamchoir: Vampire who sings. Also the name main character Ravena Doomlah adopts whenever communicating with fans on-line.

Is It Just Me? Or Does Twilight Appeal To Pedophiles?

Dear Fans ~

Having been a vampire for a full year, I no longer suffer guilt for boldly speaking my mind. My conscious is much too plagued with more important topics, like, my having killed people.

Having strong opinions is why I adore this cartoon that author Tami Jackson created in regards to the Twilight series. Like her, we vampires LOVED reading Stephenie Meyer's first two books. Unfortunately, after that, we grew disappointed. For anyone who knows anything about intimate relationships, books three and four in the series went completely downhill when an adult male becomes romantically obsessed with Bella's newborn. Not only did we find the suggestions for pedophilia offensive, but Bella seems to have lost most of her personality when she turns vampire. The final book seemed more boring to read than learning how Edward has nothing better to do with his life than watch Bella sleep.

Vampire Thoughts On Death, Dying, Resurrection & Henry David Thoreau

Since dying and being resurrected, I've often pondered: "Who decides the rules of right conduct for vampires?" I never had to consider the rules of morality, at least not very deeply, not while I lived as a law abiding human citizen. I actually felt rather pompous about such man-made rules for proper behavior back then and I looked down upon anyone who violated such by committing murder, thievery or assault.

Then I joined this different world where no police are available to arrest anyone who rips out another's throat. Vampires are expected to kill. After all, it's our nature. Yet each time I have watched one of my associates commit what humans would consider a horrific and heinous crime, I ask myself such questions on ethics.

Perhaps Henry David Thoreau was a vampire ... he wrote such ponderable things as: "Do not be too moral. You may cheat yourself out of much life. Aim above morality. Be not simply good; be good for something."

That causes me to wonder if he wasn't watching two cultures on complete opposite sides of the idea regarding "what is ethical or just" as I am now having to do.

Thanks to Thoreau, this is my new motto: "If you cannot always be good, or be good for something, then at least read my very good book: Ravena & The Resurrected." (It made the Premium Catalog on Smashwords yesterday.)

So Weird Seeing My Crimes In The Seattle Times

My dear friend Ross loves to clip articles from The Seattle Times (hardcopy). Most clippings regard unsolved murder cases, documented by the police blotter and reprinted in the newspaper. Flipping through Ross' scrapbook, I'm realizing these reports all suggest either a werewolf or vampire are to blame; it's why the murders have not been solved (police still don't believe we resurrected beings lurk nearby). Then, I felt particularly embarrassed to find this particular clipping (see below).

Humans Who Call Themselves REAL VAMPIRES Really Aren't

Dear Fans ~

Humans who claim to be "vampire" may consider this post controversial. I mean no disrespect to them; only seek clarity for communicating effectively in modern English. I would have human admirers change their self description to "vampiry" instead of "real vampire." (But that's just me.)

The human bodies these creatures inhabit have not yet seen the necessary death and rebirth to become "real vampire." Even while they dress Goth and had fangs implanted over normal teeth, and though they might look something like a vampire, I can still hear their blood pulsing and it still smells of copper, iron and zinc.

While resurrected vampires are full of medal, we have no metal in our circulatory systems. We also do NOT warm our lovers when we share a bed.

Back when I was still human, I was a vampire wannabe. So on that level, I understand these humans who claim to be "real vampires." I also remember how very few of my human companions really understood my desire to be more powerful than I was; as a mortal. Yet I did not mistakenly label myself as "vampire."

To find camaraderie with other like-minded people, I searched for friendship online. Thus, to assist any of my readers who may feel oppressed, who want to embrace their "vampiry" predatory nature, I would direct them here: vampirewebsite.net and here: awakeanddrink.webs.com. The holidays can be a very emotionally painful time for vampires; since we tend NOT to visit with family any more. Regarding the really old codger vampires, family members have long since been dead.

Haunting Memories: Stronger Than Death

A few weeks now and the anniversary will come to mark that day Assassins obliterated Eva, my vampire mentor. There are many things I miss about her (and some things I really don't). Her memory is all that remains (get it? "REMAINS").

I would never joke about those who have passed on but I make an exception in Eva's case because she really deserves to have her carcass poked at. On many levels I'm still just so very angry at her (but I still wear the blue leather bracelet she gave me, as though that could possibly bring her back). If I were honest, I'd admit I still miss her desperately.

May you find some way to find happiness, Eva. May someone else learn from your reckless behavior and survive because of it. I know you are more "down to earth" now (and hopefully) more mentally balanced.

Thanksgiving Makes Mortals More Tasty

Dear Fans ~

Just as no two humans are exactly alike, so no two vampires are exactly alike. Yet the difference between a human and a vampire is even more pronounced. Humans, as a rule, have many more insecurities. Many don't know their life purpose -- or how they might best invest whatever time they have left between now and the grave.

In contrast, vampires tend to be much more self confident. That's due in part to the fact that our death is not nearly so imminent. Also, having so many humans who worship us (pretty much the same way humans receive consistent adoration from their pet dogs) there's little room for a vampire to suffer too much loneliness. While some humans hate vampires, others are willing to prostrate themselves and become our favored two-legged pets.

In such ways humans could be regarded as vampires' best friend. Yet better than a dog, they also serve us breakfast in the same manner chickens offer humans fried eggs. In my experiences, feeder-humans have seemed rather happy to accommodate our blood lust. For that I am grateful. Happy Thanksgiving humans. Eat until you are utterly bloated and entirely complacent. VHH (vlah haha)

How To Impress A Vampire

Dear Fans ~

An email I received at Vamchoir [at] yahoo (dot) com begged the question: "Is there something people can do to impress vampires?"

My reply: Yes. Vampires in my lair get a kick out of watching the up-and-coming YouTube sensation Onision (Onision.com) for instance. We love unbridled creativity such as his.

In response to all the laughter I've had from watching Onision's videos, I created this lovely cartoon, below. (I still cannot believe the Cullen family thinks it's more respectable to consume blood from poodles than from humans and call themselves "vegetarians"; but whatever.)

Back In Grade School: Always In Trouble For Ridiculous Reasons

Dear Fans ~

I haven't always been as popular as I am now. (Becoming a vampire definitely has it's perks!) Back in grade school, my teachers constantly scolded me for talking too much about werewolves and the resurrected. Teachers thought there was something WRONG with me. (Can you believe that?)

If only my parents had known back then what I know now ... that it was the TEACHERS (and not me) who were delusional ... Ahem.

Thanksgiving Cartoon - Zombie And Turkey

Thanksgiving is racing toward Americans faster than predators from "30 Days of Night" and "I Am Legend." That's why I thought NOW would be a good time to begin flexing our funny bones; you and I. YOU, especially, are gonna need that excellent sense of humor to survive YOUR family's gatherings! VHH (vlah-haha)

Fortunately, with the days growing shorter now, all you humans can make the excuse for leaving a party early by simply admitting you feel tired. That doesn't work for us vampires ... we're especially active this time of year (when the nights are longest).

Nothing's Creepier Than Meeting The Black Dog (Hellhound) aka "Black Shuck"

I endured a most horrifying encounter with a hellhound (aka mythological "black dog" or creature of doom) just last night. Mythology says when a vampire or human comes across such a beast -we've only two weeks to live before we're either anihilated or murdered. That certainly causes me to quive inside my Bergdorf Goodman high heeled red shoes.
I've learned about the hellish supernatural black hounds from a variety of sources and every account suggests I should now expect to be ripped apart. I learned from:

My personal encounter -- I had rescued what I thought was a black labrador from a man who was beating it. Yet when I stepped in to intercede (because the dog was whimpering and I took pity) soon as I had secured the attacking man, the hound looked me square in the face. It's eyes glowed yellow and its hellish bad breath smelled so foul the little hairs inside my nostrils singed. It was obvious then, when the beast snarled (a hauntingly frightening reverberating tone unlike anything I had ever heard before) that this beast was no ordinary dog. It had never nursed a canine and was not from this world.
Stories my great-granmother had told me about hellhounds involved the dangerous-dog tracking its prey and howling for 14 days before making its final and fatal attack. I realized my encounter could not be dismissed as mere coincidence and now feel like I've received a serious warning: "beware; for you will be ripped apart." Yet that makes me feel very wary for the thirteen days to come and I don't want to live the next two weeks in fear. RESEARCH: In Scandanavian history the hellhound guards the Underworld and can be summoned by a worker in black magic to collect what the beast believes to be a lost sheep from its own territory. Obviously I'm no sheep - but judging by how the hellhound looked at me, it seems clear, that it doesn't realize that. Also called the "black shuck" the hellhound I met is known world-wide. Yet one of the most recent documented encounters happened in Yorkshire (<- click to read story). I'm still not sure what to do about having met the black dog. I feel haunted now but cannot make real sense of what happened. Was the beast's warning specifically targeting me? Or could the warning have been for the man beating it and I just stepped in at the wrong time? I have no way of knowing the answer. Only time will tell what is to be.
